Jungle to Coast Journey: Santa Sofía del Sur Inspires Tomorrow’s Agro-Industrial Engineers
Continuing our support for higher education in Peru, the Casma plant of Santa Sofia del Sur received 46 students from the fifth cycle on Friday, July 4. Under the direction of Prof. Ing. Carlos Ruiz Padilla, these students are studying Agroindustrial Engineering at the Universidad Nacional de Ucayali.
The enthusiastic students completed a comprehensive two-hour journey. They were divided into three groups, and each group, guided by the head of frozen products Juan José Palacios, explored the reception, processing and packing areas of both the frozen strawberry and fresh asparagus plants.
Simultaneously, groups not on the plant tour received training sessions led by Quality Supervisor Kristophers Lázaro. The topics covered included:
- Supply Chain
- Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
- Standard Operating Procedures for Sanitation (SSOP)
- Food Microbiology
The students showed great interest, asking pertinent questions and offering constructive comments. It is a real satisfaction for Santa Sofia del Sur to receive these young people who cross the country, showing so much effort and desire to learn.
