Santa Sofía del Sur Reaffirms Its Commitment to Education, Community, and Sustainability in the Agricultural Secto
On December 12, 2024, a group of 39 outstanding sixth-semester students from the Faculty of Agronomy at the National University of Cañete visited the fields of our company located in Cerro Blanco, Humay district, in Pisco, Ica.
During this activity, the students had the opportunity to explore the Tango and Primosol mandarin fields, learning about the fertigation system implemented and details related to the development of these crops. Field Chief Engineer German Aguirre and Professor Ronald Alexis Cortez Lázaro guided this educational experience.
The students gained valuable insights into the following:
- Irrigation System: A detailed explanation of the irrigation methods used in the mandarin crops, emphasizing their efficiency and sustainability.
- Agricultural Design: An overview of the field layout and plant arrangement to maximize production.
- Mandarin Varieties: Presentation of the characteristics of the cultivated varieties, highlighting their adaptability and productivity.
- Crop Growth: Insights into the stages of fruit development and the factors influencing growth.
- Plant Nutrition: Information on the fertilization and production programs for the plants.
This visit was an enriching experience for future agronomists. It allowed them to observe the concepts learned in class and gain a deeper understanding of the productive and technological processes involved in modern agriculture.
